Congratulations to Ballarat calisthenics students, Meg, Zoe and Indy, who recently represented our state at the National Championships in Queensland.
The Junior team placed first for all their items and won the National Title. Sub Juniors also won their title, with Inters placing third.
The 2015 Victorian State team consisted of 76 students:
- 26 Sub Juniors
- 26 Juniors
- 24 Intermediates
This was their most successful year, winning two of the three team competitions and three of the six solo events. Teams competed from South Australia, Western Australia and ACT.
Victorian team manager Portia Branton said :
“Calisthenics is so much more than results though.
Being a member of the Victorian state team is an experience of a lifetime. Participants reap the rewards of additional training each week on top of their weekly club class. They learn from different coaches, developing their skills in new and exciting ways.
Athletes have the opportunity to rehearse and perform on stage regularly throughout their journey building confidence and self‐esteem, and the week away, where they learn to focus on their goals, come together as a team and cement the friendships they have made is an experience to treasure forever”
