Mary Poppins BLOC Production

As well as practicing for her first ever calisthenics solo competition, Olivia, one of our Juniors, has been busy rehearsing for her role in the upcoming BLOC production of Mary Poppins.

In addition to her calisthenics classes, Olivia attends weekly singing and drama classes.  She has performed in many concerts and competitions, but this is her first local production.

Olivia is one of the youngest cast members and auditioned with 250 other children.  She is part of the girls ensemble and has been practicing with the cast since last December. She will be singing and dancing at Her Majesty’s Theatre between May 5th and 15th (Olivia’s dates displayed in red).

Her Majesty’s Theatre describe this production as:

Everyone’s favourite practically perfect nanny takes the stage in this Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious musical adventure.

One of the most popular Disney movies of all time is capturing hearts in a whole new way: as a practically perfect musical! Based on the books by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins has delighted audiences around the world and received nine Olivier Award nominations and seven TONY(TM) Awards, including Best Musical.

Bert, the jack-of-all trades introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren’t the only ones she has a profound effect upon. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that anything can happen if you let it.
